The whole world mourns today the passing away of one uniquely genius man, Steve Jobs. Apple Inc Chairman and former CEO died last night after a long battle with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. He will be remembered as our emblematic visionary who transformed our lives and shaped our technology. A brilliant man who changed our world and made it better, more exciting and more interesting with innovative Apple products we enjoyed using like iMac, iPod, iPhone and the iPad.

And yesterday I saw a few more in my stock and decided to do a quick post to share these today, and hopefully someone would them useful. Here’s the second part of our hi-res skyscape images giveaway “Free High-resolution Photos of Skies, Clouds, and Sunsets – Part 1“. We shared some 30 high resolution images in part 1 and also included some tips on how to shoot skyscapes. Now we are giving away 34 more high resolution images of skies, clouds and sunsets. Now you will ask. How do I use these lens flare?

First, open your sky texture image file in Adobe Photoshop.

Then, open your lens flare file and place it on top of you sky texture image layer.

At this point, the sky texture image is totally covered with lens flare image. To apply the lens flare effect, open the Layer Palette, select the Lens Flare layer and set the Blending Mode to “Screen” (see our sample layer palette screenshot below).

We are all familiar with the design motto “Less is more”. When design is optimized to have no more than the fundamentals or what is needed, it can transcend beyond the norm reflecting purity, simplicity and cleanliness. Minimalism though simple and unadorned, is not boring, but can be very attractive and achieve beautiful results.

In this article, we explore the minimalism in the context of wallpaper designs. Particularly, minimalist color and monochrome wallpapers. A minimalist color scheme is normally limited to 2 or at most 3 colors, while monochrome is having only one color represented by differing hues, tints and shades. Minimalist wallpaper designs are good desktop backgrounds because they are relaxing to look at and gives you less clutter on your desktop.
