It’s raining templates here in Graphic Design Free Resources. I do have a lot more InDesign and PowerPoint templates to share but I don’t want to surge everything in one single post. It’s good to share them set by set which is what I am doing with InDesign and PowerPoint templates lately. So you get to appreciate each of them and be able to select and download only those sets that you like.

Today we have another set of free premium PowerPoint templates. Third set includes seven recommended PowerPoint templates that you can use for an effective business presentation.

A few tidbits first about PowerPoint presentation before we go on to the freebies. Few years ago, a survey was conducted to discover what viewers considered the most annoying aspects about PowerPoint presentations. Each person was asked to select the top three annoying elements from a list of elements. Participants could also write in some list of their own. And here are the seven most annoying things that topped the list.

1. The speaker is just reading the slides to us – 60.4 %
2. Text is so small I couldn’t read it – 50.9 %
3. Full sentences instead of bullet points – 47.8 %
4. Slides hard to see because of poor color choice – 37.1 %
5. Moving or flying text or graphics – 24.5 %
6. Annoying use of sounds – 22.0 %
7. Overly complex diagrams or charts – 22.0 %

Let’s try to avoid these common mistakes in creating and presenting PowerPoint presentations. And to help you do away with those mistakes, here are the seven PowerPoint template freebies that you can download and use for your presentation.

A lot of readers enjoyed the previous PowerPoint template freebie we had and was asking for few more. So here are seven more premium PowerPoint templates that you can freely download and customize for your presentation.

I would like to add a few more PowerPoint tips before we continue with the freebies. These are just a few short points categorized into two, visual/design and general presentation tips.

Visual and design tips (general design tips)
1. Keep your background consistent and subtle as possible.
2. Limit text usage when using charts or graphs to explain clearly label the graphic.
3. Keep your design clean and uncluttered. Leave enough empty spaces around text and graphics
4. Use only quality cliparts or illustrations, and use it sparingly.
5. Try to use the same style of graphics throughout your presentation
6. Check all graphics on a projection screen before the actual presentation.
7. Avoid flashy graphics and noisy animation effects or anything that will distract your viewers attention to your presentation.
8. Use page transitions sparingly. It is better to use only one so your audience knows what to expect.

General Presentation Tips
1. Do not parrot the presentation. Pesentation works best with spoken remarks that augment and discuss, rather than mimic, what’s on the screen.
2. Time your remarks. A well-orchestrated presentation brings up a new slide, gives the audience enough time to read and digest it, then follows up with remarks that broaden and amplify what’s on the screen.
3. If the content is complex, print out the slides as handouts so the audience can take notes.
4. Do not turn your back on the audience. Try to position the monitor so you can speak from it.
5. Edit ruthlessly before presenting. Check thoroughly spelling and grammar.

Most of the time we do boring PowerPoint templates that are designed for standard bullet point presentations. Copy paste standard charts from Excel while using one of those bundled templates that comes with MS Office. You may be able to include all necessary details and data needed for your presentation but to effectively present it is another question.

A well developed Powerpoint presentation gives your audience a terrific visual to accompany your words. But most often, we are so engrossed building the content hence compromising visual quality. Using  a well designed, professionally looking template can exceptionally augment your presentation.
