More requests for free InDesign templates, particularly magazine templates are coming in lately, so I decided to share one today. This magazine layout looks more generic, suitably because it’s a template. Although magazine layouts have their own basic rules, it is most of the time effective when appropriately and creatively done out of the box or when you break some rules to make it more interesting. Good magazine layouts are not just good layout designs, every design element contributes their own unique part in making a design an aesthetic success.

This particular template should work with most general purpose magazines and can also be easily adjusted and tinkered for other types of magazine layouts. This template consists of 12 8.5 inches by 11 inches (letter) full-colored pages. Packaged rar file consists of the InDesign CS4 indd file, INX (interchange) file, fonts and link images. Due to so many requests I’m receiving for more free InDesign templates especially folders and brochures, I’m throwing away more InDesign templates for free. Previously I shared just one free presentation folder InDesign template, now I’m giving away two more exclusive folder designs. These two templates has exactly the same specifications as the previous one (3-panel folder with middle flap as business card holder) except of course for the designs and the included vector files. I know a lot of you folks missed my InDesign template freebies and its been more than two months now since I last shared free InDesign templates here. So here I am once again sharing with you two lovely brochure templates of a Christian church and a travel agency.

Both designs are complete with fonts and images packaged separately. You can of course replace the images with your own and adjust the layout as you see fit. You can also make these templates, as well as all our other templates, work for any industry specific designs. Also included aside from the main InDesign CS4 source file (.indd) is an Interchange CS3 file (.inx) for those who have InDesign CS3 either on PC or Mac.

Most of our freebies here are under under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 License. But I’m waiving everything for now and giving these freebies to everyone for personal and commercial use. I have been using Adobe InDesign since it was still Adobe Pagemaker 3.0. Yes that long. I also remember using Xerox Ventura, Pagemaker’s counterpart back then. With all these years of working with InDesign and doing different kinds of publications, I have long learned how valuable and important using paragraph style sheets are. And if you’ve ever formatted large amounts of text in Adobe InDesign or Quark and then had to change text and paragraph formatting like fonts, colours, character sizes or leadings of all of your headings or body text, you’ll know how time consuming it can be. It will take ages to go through large documents changing the attributes for each bit of text. It’s also an unreliable way to work where things can be easily missed or overlooked.

Creating an InDesign style sheet is very simple. You simply create a couple of paragraphs and headings in InDesign. Then format the text in any way you like. When you’re happy with your paragraphs, click anywhere within the paragraph you’d like to define. Open the Paragraph Styles Palette by selecting Window > Type & Tables > Paragraph Styles. From the scrolldown submenu in the upper right corner of the paragraph styles palette, select New Paragraph Style and it will expand to reveal a dialogue box. From there, you can further define details and attributes of your paragraph.

To make it easier for you and to give every InDesign user a head start in creating paragraph style sheets, I have created an InDesign template with predefined paragraph style sheets that are commonly used in long documents like books, magazines and reports. This is the basic paragraph style sheet I personally use. I just do some adjustments to fit a particular design I’m working on. The template is using Myriad Pro font but you can change the font and easily adjust a lot of its attributes in the edit paragraph dialogue box.

How’s everyone? It feels like ages since my last post nine days ago. There were just too much work and my home rig just gave up few days ago. It was just yesterday night that I got it back up and running. I ended up replacing almost everything which turns out that my old Asus AGP DDR1 motherboard just can’t go on any longer. Now’s my chance to try Windows 7! So now my home PC is happily running and proudly sporting the sweetest Windows OS Microsoft has ever done, Windows 7 (RTM). Coming from XP, it’s one big leap to an awesome polished shiny piece of OS work. I’m hoping to keep this until I get the retail version. And if it’s really true that it’s cheaper than Vista, then I’m surely getting one.

Once again we have two special Indesign templates here for everyone. Two nicely laid out brochures for a daycare preschool and a health fitness center. So if you’re running out of design ideas for similar kind of brochures, or simply hard pressed to come up with a quick layout, then check these InDesign templates and see if these are what you’re looking for. You may also want to download these even if you don’t need them now and find them handy next time you need one. Better yet, you may also want to download and collect all our InDesign templates so you’ll have more to choose from.

These two brochures are measured 8.5 by 11 inches (letter size) spread in 2 folds, 3 panels, full color layout. Since you will be replacing the photos with your own, I didn’t bother converting most of the photos to CMYK. I know most of you know the drill when printing offset, convert everything to CMYK if you don’t want to be bothered again by your printer asking you to fix your layout and convert everything properly. All graphic elements aside from photos are in vector format embedded in InDesign so you can easily modify them without needing another vector editing software like Illustrator. Each archive package consists of image links, fonts, InDesign indd (CS4) and InDesign Interchange inx (CS3) files.

I know a lot of you need InDesign templates and these templates are such a hit here in my blog. So I’m giving you more. Actually not too much, just two template brochures. But I hope you like them both.

These are two InDesign template brochures of two high technology (hi-tech) companies. One big brochure in standard letter size (folded) pages for a robotics company, and one small tri-fold brochure for an Internet company. Both templates can also be adapted to brochure designs of other types of technology companies like hi-tech manufaturing companies, software developers, hardware vendors, and many more.

These brochures are so easy to customize. Most of its graphic elements are embedded vector graphics which you can ungroup, resize and move around. Just replace the photos, text and logo with your own, and your good to go.

All InDesign files are done in Adobe InDesign CS4. But an equivalent InDesign Interchange (INX) file is provided for CS3 and Apple Mac users. Links and fonts are included in the package. Download both InDesign templates from two separate links provided below. Enjoy.

It’s good to be back! I think this is my longest gap between posts. I posted my previous entry last week (August 5), but something went wrong last Friday. Traffic was so huge, my previous host had to take us down. I immediately transferred to a much bigger host but it took me sometime to bring the site up. After it went back online, I felt I have to post something right away. So now I am sharing four sets of InDesign templates of business cards, letterheads with matching envelopes.

I previously shared with you three sets of business cards and letterheads (without envelopes) in Illustrator format. A lot of people were asking me to share similar templates in InDesign. So here I am giving away four sets of InDesign templates that I previously created for some clients but were not approved. It’s not that these designs are done in bad taste, but because we know how a lot people have different kind of design preferences. So if you like these designs and you feel that it suits you or your client’s taste, then they’re all yours.

We have here four designs for four different kinds of businesses — an architectural firm, food and beverage company, telecommunications company, and a yoga fitness studio. All of these designs contain pure vector and text elements so they’re pretty small in file sizes. All letterheads are in letter format sized 8.5 by 11 inches, business cards are in standard US size of 3.5 by 2 inches, while envelopes are in 9.5 by 4.125 inches. All InDesign source files were done in Adobe InDesign CS4 Windows version. But as usual, I have also created INX files for Apple Mac users and those who have CS3.

Designing folders can sometimes be exasperating. It is similar to designing packaging materials where you have to accurately measure and provide die cutting and folding guides. I normally re-use some of these folder layouts as templates. There are a lot of folder design variations, from the simple two panel flat folder design to an elaborately shaped gate-opening type of design. My usual favorite is the three panel type of design with a pocket on one panel, either in the middle or rightmost panel. And this is exactly what I would like to share today. A free InDesign template of a folder which you can use for a presentation or company folder.

This folder has three panels and a folding type holder (pocket) in the middle. The pocket has die cuts for a business card holder. The folder is measured 220 mm by 305 mm per panel (folded size) or 680 mm by 395 mm spread (including middle pocket),  with a 1 cm thick spine which can hold plenty of document inserts.

Here’s a closer look at the cutting and folding guides.

The cutting and folding guides are in a separate layer which you can either show or hide. The guides are applied with registration color so it will only appear as registration marks in the final print even if you make them visible in your pre-press file.

Main source file is in Adobe InDesign CS4 version for Windows, packaged with the included image link and fonts. Another link is provided for the InDesign Interchange (.inx) file in case you have a lower version (CS3) or using an Apple Mac instead.

I have been longing to post some InDesign templates here in our site. Finally, I was able to finish two. These are layouts from previous projects that I did before. We have here a medical or health care center brochure and a coffee shop menu.

These are rejected layouts from some of the studies I presented to my clients, so design exclusivity remains with me. In as much as I hate seeing good designs like these go to waste, I have decided to share them with you. I am also aware that I could re-use these designs for other similar projects in the future, but I don’t normally do that. I always like to start a project fresh and not just some rehash from the trash. No, I’m not referring to these designs as trash . Look at the preview images below, and tell me if they look like trash.

Download and use these templates for your personal or commercial projects. I am using Adobe InDesign CS4 for Windows, so the included .indd file is in CS4. However, I also included an InDesign Interchange (.inx) file in case you have CS3 or you are using an Apple Mac.
